Future Jobs Report 2020-2025

Although we never take the perspective of just one Future Jobs Report as gospel, we do value looking across many to get a sense of what various groups are seeing as important future skills. In this report from the World Economic Forum we see many things that relate directly to our Humantific service offerings.

Report Overview:

"The COVID-19 pandemic-induced lockdowns and related global recession of 2020 have created a highly uncertain outlook for the labour market and accelerated the arrival of the future of work."

"The Future of Jobs report maps the jobs and skills of the future, tracking the pace of change. It aims to shed light on the pandemic-related disruptions in 2020, contextualized within a longer history of economic cycles and the expected outlook for technology adoption, jobs and skills in the next five years."

We are at Humantific often delighted to see in such reports, skills included that we teach in our Complexity Navigation Program. In this report we noted the inclusion of Analytical thinking and innovation, Complex problem solving, Creativity, originality and initiative, Leadership and social influence, Critical thinking & analysis, Reasoning, problem-solving and ideation. Active learning, and learning strategies, Resilience and flexibility. All good news for us and the organizations we work with. (See list from the report below.)

"The future of work has already arrived for a large majority of the online white-collar workforce....Skills gaps continue to be high as in-demand skills across jobs change in the next five years....On average, companies estimate that around 40% of workers will require reskilling of six months or less and 94% of business leaders report that they expect employees to pick up new skills on the job, a sharp uptake from 65% in 2018."

"There has been a four-fold increase in the numbers of individuals seeking out opportunities for learning online through their own initiative, a five-fold increase in employer provision of online learning opportunities to their workers and a nine-fold enrolment increase for learners accessing online learning through government programmes."

"On average, employers expect to offer reskilling and upskilling to just over 70% of their employees by 2025."
